Planning a pre-wedding photoshoot in Korea is a beautifully intentional way to celebrate this exciting chapter of your lives—one filled with excitement, joy, and the quiet anticipation of what’s to come. It’s also a chance to capture the beauty of Korea alongside the heart of your love story.

If you’re coming from overseas, it’s completely normal to feel a bit unsure about where to begin. That’s why I’ve put together this guide on exactly what to expect from your Korean pre-wedding photoshoot—from hair and makeup to choosing outfits and exploring some of Korea’s most breathtaking backdrops.

What Exactly is a Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

Unlike your wedding day, which is often a whirlwind of timelines and traditions, a pre-wedding photoshoot is all about slowing down and savoring the moment. It happens before your big day and focuses entirely on capturing the two of you—your connection, your energy, your story—in a setting that feels intentional and beautifully you.

It’s a chance to create something meaningful and personal, without the rush or pressure. You’re free to be present, explore, and enjoy the experience together.

Why You Should Plan a Pre Wedding Photoshoot In Korea

Traditional wedding days in Korea are celebrations shared with everyone you love, but that often means you won’t have much quiet time for just the two of you. A pre-wedding photoshoot gives you that time back. It’s your moment to connect with your partner, reflect on your relationship or what’s to come, and create moments you’ll cherish forever.

One of the biggest perks of a Korea pre wedding shoot is the flexibility. You can change outfits (like Santal and David did for their pre wedding shoot on Jeju Island), visit multiple locations, and move through the day at your own pace. It’s a creative experience and a way to craft photographs that feel like art.

Korea Pre Wedding Photoshoot: A Detailed Timeline and What to Expect

Before your Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

Every couple is unique, and your pre-wedding photos should reflect that. Before your shoot, I’ll send over a detailed questionnaire that covers your relationship, personality, and communication style. You can also look forward to phone calls and WhatsApp messages so I can get a real sense of who you are. From there, I’ll start planning the day with you in mind—every step designed to feel easy, joyful, and uniquely yours.

Morning Hotel Pickup

On the morning of your pre-wedding photoshoot, I’ll meet you at your hotel to begin the day together. I’ll be your photographer, driver, translator, personal assistant, and your extra set of hands. Above all else, I’m here to make you feel relaxed and supported right from the beginning.

Hair, Makeup, and Outfits

Once we arrive at the makeup studio, I’ll come in with you to help translate your vision to the stylists. And yes—grooms, you’re more than welcome to join in on the hair and makeup too. Many do and truly enjoy the experience!

Next, we’ll head into the wardrobe. One of the biggest perks of a Korean pre-wedding shoot is that everything can be rented locally. This makes traveling much easier, as you won’t need to worry about carrying a garment bag on the plane or wondering if your clothes will survive the journey. Your personal attendant will help you choose outfits for you to try on, and once you’ve selected your favorites, we’ll be ready to go.

Making Memories

This is when the magic happens. We’ll head to the locations you’ve chosen and begin capturing your story. Your quiet glances, big laughs, and everything in between. The goal isn’t to pose you stiffly, but to document your connection in an honest, artful way that you’ll cherish for years to come.

Wrapping Up

Once we’ve finished shooting, I’ll drop you back at your hotel and return the outfits for you. No errands, no stress, just memories made and a gallery of images to look forward to. You’re free to enjoy the rest of your time in Korea.

Choosing the Best Pre-wedding Locations in Korea

One of the most exciting parts of a Korean pre-wedding photoshoot is the scenery. Korea is full of gorgeous locations that feel cinematic and serene. Here are some beautiful backdrops that will make your pre-wedding experience feel truly unforgettable.

Yongmeori Coast

Carved by volcanic activity and shaped by the sea, the Yongmeori Coast on Jeju Island is absolutely breathtaking. Dramatic cliffs, ocean views, and a sense of wonder are all make up this gorgeous landscape. It’s the perfect place to feel the power of nature and marvel in its beauty.

Blooming Canola Flowers

In spring, many of Korea’s hills and open fields are blanketed with yellow canola flowers. Imagine running through a meadow, surrounded by soft, beautiful flowers swaying gently in the breeze. Jeju Island and Seoraeseom Canola Field in Seoul are two of the best spots to see them in full bloom.

A Note on Cherry Blossoms

I love cherry blossom season, but it can be a bit unpredictable to know when they are in bloom. To make sure your shoot is relaxed and joyful, I usually recommend not planning your day around them. Of course, if they are blooming, I’m more than happy to pivot so that they can make it into your pre-wedding photos!

Wondering when is the best time to plan a pre-wedding photoshoot in Korea? Here is everything you need to know regarding the weather and seasons.

Tips for a Successful Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Korea

Bring Comfortable Shoes

In addition to any shoes or heels you want to wear during your pre-wedding photoshoot, I also recommend packing a comfortable pair of shoes. While I’ll never ask you to hike or climb anywhere that makes you uncomfortable, some walking is likely. Having sneakers you can slip into between locations will help make sure your feet are happy the entire time.

Pack Layers in the Winter

Winters in Korea can be quite chilly, so if you’re visiting during this season, skin-toned thermals are a great way to stay warm without affecting your look. I’ll also bring heat pads to help keep you cozy while we shoot outdoors.

Rent Your Outfits

A major perk of a pre-wedding photoshoot in Korea is that everything is available for rent. From dresses and suits down to shoes and accessories, you can find pretty much everything you need. As a bonus, most items are very affordable, making it even easier to craft the perfect looks for the day.

Frequently Asked Questions About a Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Korea

How long does a pre-wedding photoshoot in Korea last?

A Korean pre-wedding photoshoot typically lasts a full day. In addition to capturing photos, getting hair and makeup done, choosing outfits, and traveling to locations will make up the rest of your day.

In terms of coverage, I offer packages starting at 4 hours. That said, I find that 6 hours is the sweet spot—it gives us enough time to explore, change outfits, and capture everything we want without feeling rushed.

Does a pre-wedding photo shoot include transportation, hair, and makeup?

While every couple is different, I do my best to help make your Korean pre-wedding photoshoot as smooth and easy as possible. I organize the transportation and book your appointments for hair, makeup, and outfits. All you have to do is show up and enjoy.

When should you have your pre-wedding photoshoot?

There is no right or wrong time to have your pre-wedding photoshoot. That said, if you’d like to use the photos for your wedding day or invitations, you’ll want to schedule your session with enough time for your photographer to deliver the final gallery.

It’s also worth thinking about the overall vision you have in mind. For instance, the weather and seasons will play a large role in the scenery. If you’re dreaming of soft floral backdrops, spring is the perfect time to make that happen. Or if you’re hoping for a white, snow-filled experience, then winter is when you want to visit.

I hope this guide helped you feel more excited and at ease about planning your pre-wedding photoshoot in Korea. I’ll be here to help you every step of the way, from the first message to the final photo.

Ready to bring your pre-wedding vision to life? I’d be honored to help you make it happen.
