There’s something undeniably special about a Korea destination wedding. Stepping into a new place, making it your own, and weaving your love story into its backdrop creates a kind of magic that feels both intimate and timeless. It’s not just about the memories you’ll carry forever—it’s about crafting a day that feels wholly yours, free from traditions that don’t resonate and filled with the ones that do.

Bellamy and Shanxi’s Korea destination wedding captured that spirit beautifully. Their celebration was intentional, heartfelt, and centered on what mattered most: their love and the people closest to them. From the tender, quiet moments to the lush, romantic florals, it was an unforgettable day—and I feel so honored to have documented their story here in the country I call home.

Why Bellamy + Shanxi Chose Korea for their Destination Wedding

Although Bellamy and Shanxi live in Singapore, choosing Korea for their destination wedding felt incredibly personal. For Bellamy, who grew up in London but has family roots in Korea, it was a beautiful way to honor her heritage. And for Shanxi, who is from Singapore, Korea already felt familiar and accessible, with the two countries so closely connected. Together, they found that Korea offered more than just convenience—it felt like home. A place filled with meaning, love, and the perfect beginning to their marriage.

When it came time for their multicultural wedding, they leaned fully into the international experience, inviting their loved ones, many of whom traveled from abroad, to not only witness their day but also enjoy the country they both adore. For these two, their Korea destination wedding was about more than a wedding—it was about sharing a place that held deep meaning.

An Intentional Day

Instead of focusing on designer labels or a showy celebration, Bellamy and Shanxi crafted a day that reflected what mattered most—time with each other and with the loved ones who had journeyed to celebrate alongside them. Guests were encouraged to share stories, connect, and savor the moment, with every detail designed to foster connection over material excess.

Prioritizing Florals

Florals held a special place in Bellamy and Shanxi’s vision, and making them central to their Korea destination wedding felt deeply meaningful to the couple. They envisioned warm spring tones that were vibrant and bold, and their florist, Fleur Au Coin, brought that dream to life. From the arrangements throughout the property to the lush displays that greeted guests, every detail bloomed with personality. Behind the camera, I loved capturing the way the floral designs flowed so naturally into every part of their day.

A Hanok Experience

As a nod to both Bellamy’s heritage and the Korean wedding celebration itself, they chose Dugahun as their venue. This hanok, built in the style of a 1910s Korean house, has been artfully reimagined with modern interiors. It pairs its timeless design with a fine dining and wine experience, and the result was a hanok wedding that felt both rooted in tradition and beautifully contemporary.

Bellamy and Shanxi’s Korea destination wedding was vibrant, heartfelt, and deeply intentional. It proved that when love and connection take center stage, everything else falls beautifully into place.

What to Expect on Your Wedding Day in Korea

The rhythm of a Korean wedding day often unfolds a little differently than what you might expect elsewhere. Typically, I’ll begin at the venue, capturing details while you’re getting your hair and makeup done at a nearby studio. Portraits are usually taken right at the venue as well, since many couples choose to schedule a separate pre-wedding photoshoot at different locations. This gives you the best of both worlds—beautiful portraits before the wedding and a more relaxed timeline on the big day itself.

If you’re considering your own destination wedding in Korea, there’s so much more to discover—from choosing a venue to understanding cultural traditions and working with local vendors. I’ve put together a comprehensive planning guide to help you start the journey with confidence. You can read the first part at the link below.
