As a pre-wedding photographer, I understand the importance of selecting the perfect location for your photoshoot. While opting for trendy spots like Nami Island may seem tempting, it often comes with drawbacks such as crowds, high costs, and long waiting lists. Hence, I do not recommend Nami Island for several reasons. Instead, I suggest considering Damyang Metasequoia Road—a truly enchanting, peaceful, and romantic location that will create unforgettable wedding pictures and beautiful memories.

Avoid the Hassle of Nami Island and Opt for Damyang

Getting to Nami Island can be a hassle, especially if you’re unfamiliar with navigating Korea. You may end up with standing tickets on a crowded train, and the island is packed year-round, particularly in Spring and Autumn. Shy couples may feel self-conscious or distracted by the crowds, making it difficult to capture those intimate moments.

Instead, I recommend heading to Damyang, which is only 30 minutes away by car from Gwangju in the Jeollanamdo area.

Embrace the Magic of Damyang Metasequoia Road

Damyang Metasequoia Road, also known as Damyang Road of Metasequoia Trees, is an iconic natural tunnel formed by towering Metasequoia trees that stretch endlessly along a scenic road. The sight of these tall, elegant trees creates a dreamlike atmosphere, especially during the changing seasons. In spring, the road is adorned with vibrant green foliage, while autumn brings a breathtaking display of fiery red and orange leaves. The interplay of light and shadows through the tree canopy adds a touch of magic to every photograph.

Both Nami Island and Damyang have metasequoia trees. These trees make a perfect backdrop for romantic photoshoots. However, the major difference between the metasequoia trees on Nami Island and Damyang is the crowds. The former is packed all year round, whereas the latter is relatively less visited.

Adjacent to Metasequoia Road lies a tranquil pond, reflecting the majestic trees surrounding it. The pond provides a serene setting, enhancing the romantic ambiance for prewedding photos. Couples can capture intimate moments by the water’s edge at sunset, creating timeless memories against the natural beauty of Damyang.

Secondly, Damyang Metasequoia Road offers more privacy than Nami Island. This way, shy couples can get their pictures taken without feeling distracted or uncomfortable. The serene environment of Damyang provides the perfect atmosphere for a perfect photoshoot. You can take your photos in peace, without crowds of people photobombing your shots.

More Than Just Metasequoia Road

Damyang offers other beautiful destinations to shoot pre-wedding photos besides Metasequoia Road. These locations include Soswaewon Garden, a beautiful garden with a traditional Korean house, and the Bamboo Forest. All of these locations are situated in one area, making it super convenient.

Why Choose Damyang Metasequoia over Nami Island?

In addition to the convenience of traveling to Damyang from Seoul and avoiding crowds, there are several other advantages to choosing Damyang for your pre-wedding photography. Firstly, you won’t have to worry about securing a train ticket to Nami Island from Seoul. The easiest way is to take the KTX high-speed train from Yongsan or Seoul Station, which will bring you directly to Gwangju Songjeong Station in just over two hours. From there, I will personally pick you up and take you for hair and makeup before embarking on a short, scenic 30-minute drive to Damyang Metasequoia Road.

Damyang’s Metasequoia Road offers a range of advantages over Nami Island. From its ease of access to minimal crowds and opportunities for privacy, there are countless reasons why Damyang is the perfect location for pre-wedding photoshoots. So why settle for a crowded and stressful photoshoot when you can have a peaceful and memorable experience in Damyang?
