WHY KOREA AS A PRE-WEDDING DESTINATION?
We had planned a trip since we are both Korean (he had never visited, and it had been about 10 years since I had). My mom was already in Seoul for a couple months with her family, so we decided to plan our trip at the same time she was there so we could meet up and spend some time together with my family on her side. So, a Seoul proposal is perfect.
THE VIBE
He knew I wanted an intimate and private proposal, which he executed perfectly! I gave him lots of clues on what I didn’t want as well as what I loved seeing in other proposals.
FAVE DETAILS
The roses, the candles, the champagne! He knows how much I love sunsets so planning this around sunset was perfect. The entire thing was an absolute dream come true. Also, THE RING!!!!
THE DRESS
He had planned a dinner at a Michelin-star restaurant after this “surprise activity”. He told me that we wouldn’t have time to go back to the hotel to change before dinner, and that we should be dressed up for this activity. That’s why I was already in a dress & heels! Smart man.
WE’RE GLAD WE…
I’m so glad he decided to move it inside from the outdoor patio area. As much as that would’ve been beautiful, it was so cold & windy. I was already shaking from the excitement & nerves, I would’ve gone purple being outside! I probably would’ve also hated any photos with my hair flying all over the place haha.
A WORD OF ADVICE…
I know this is controversial and maybe I’m super type-A, but I’m glad I gave details of what I want and don’t want when it comes to our proposal and the ring. Some women probably want the whole thing to be a surprise or casual, but for me since this is the only moment of my life (hopefully) where there’s one opportunity to do it, I want it to be picture-perfect! Also, kudos to my fiance for grabbing my purse & setting it down prior to the special proposal moment in Seoul!
