“A grand adventure is about to begin….” Winnie the Pooh

Ishan and Sunayna are from India and ardent travelers. With baby’s arrival expected in early January 2020, they thought a baby-moon to Korea would be the perfect excuse to travel before the birth, and to binge on Korean cuisine and culture. It would also be a wonderful opportunity for a destination maternity session in beautiful Korea. When Sunayna (a photographer herself) contacted me about the pictures I was thrilled!

I took them to one of my favorite places, Hoshidam a café in Damyang where the parents-to-be could just hung out in a relaxed atmosphere over lemon tea and coffee. We started this session outside among some beautiful reeds which added a lovely softness to the pictures. It was a cloudy day which I didn’t mind at all, the clouds created a mood of their own.

We moved inside, where Sunayna changed into a elegant black dress which really complimented the classy interior of the cafe. This modern “Vogue” interior with it’s elegant lines, glass detail and black leather chairs, created the modern home-style setting i was after for this part of the shoot. Looking breathtakingly beautiful and elegant in her black dress, I was able to capture some amazing pictures of Sunayna’s silhouette, adding some glamour to her gallery.

On the way to our next location, we made an impromptu stop at a rice field. I thought it would add a nice Korean touch to the shoot. Kind of a keep sake of their time in Korea.

During my research of locations for this shoot, I discovered a hidden treasure! A small field of pink Muhly grass in Damyang. Hundreds of tiny pink flowers cover the grass’s blades, creating the illusion of pink cotton candy. What a perfect and apt setting to document the beginnings of the life of this beautiful baby girl. Surrounded by pink cotton candy!

Ishan and Sunayna’s hope for little Ahilya is that she grows up to be strong and passionate, allowing her to follow her own dreams and path in life one day. When I asked them about their life together, present and future: “We don’t have any other children. We love watching movies, travelling and spending time together doing arbitrary stuff. We are really looking forward to bringing up our child(ren) together and seeing how we turn out as parents. It is going to be an adventure of a lifetime.”

Ishan & Sunayna it was such pleasant day getting to know you and showing you the south side of Korea. Thank you for entrusting me with your precious memories. It was an honor!

I wish you all the best for the remainder of the pregnancy and the birth of your beautiful baby girl.

Much health and happiness,

Lorryn.
